2 Chronicles 29:11

My sons, do not be negligent now; for the Lord has chosen you to stand before Him and serve Him, to minister before Him and to burn incense.

12 hours

Gravel comes from rock; rock that is broken into gravel-size pieces. How does this happen? In Uganda it doesn't occur mechanically.
If he works diligently he can fill three five-gallon buckets with gravel in 12 hours. Each bucket filled nets him about 5 cents (U.S.). He's been chipping rocks since he was 4 and now he's 10. His options are reduced to an option: continue doing what he knows.
We're struggling to teach the kids a good work ethic. There's this ugly assumption that they're (we're) entitled to comfort and leisure. It seems that the Bible talks a lot more about hard work and suffering than it does about "livin' it up".

Oh you are so right. Those words, "Work Ethics" seem to be lost in this good ole society we live in today. But, do not grow weary in well doing...teach the values of hard work because you are teaching much more than you will ever know. Uncle Tom says this about chipping away at the stone (in his case it is hand digging all those graves) that it teaches character. When Nick began to assist his dad...he would complain..."why can't we buy a back-hoe?" His Dad would tell him over and over again...Character, we are developing character and this is a great time given to us to think and ponder on the things of life. Today, I see great character in both men. I thank God for the little things that He teaches us through hard work and doing tasks such as chipping rocks into small stones. He that is faithful with a little...the Lord says shall be faithful with much. Isn't God so good to us???
